The Water Guard - www.thewaterguard.com

The water guard has one purpose: to reduce the amount of water that a toilet uses.  In a nutshell most toilets keep the valve open too long and waste water in the flush cycle.  The secret to selling this device is to educate people about what is happening in their toilet.

Just like the device, the Web site has a single purpose: push one product.  To achieve this the whole site was modeled after a television "infomercial" which is a very successful method for educating an audience and generating sales.  There are four basic scenes in the movie.  They are the average toilet wastes water, exactly how the toilet wastes water, introducing the water guard, and how the water guard helps save 1/2 gallon of water:

Other than the Flash movie the Web site is very simple.  The user may click the home button which goes to an HTML page providing the same information as the movie.  The second button allows the device to be purchased directly through the Web site.  The volume customers for this device are local government bodies, such as municipal water boards. The third button links to a page which suggests this as if it were talking to a consumer (a little misdirection) and a PDF document about the device.
